Behavioral Medicine

Pets often show illness or anxiety through improper or changed behavior. Let our staff help you determine what is appropriate behavior for your pet and what you can do to change their inappropriate behaviors for the better.

We are often presented with pets experiencing behavioral problems including separation anxiety, obsessive/compulsive activity, urine marking/house soiling, senility (cognitive dysfunction) and aggression. Sometimes these problems are secondary to underlying disease processes, like urinary tract infections or hormonal imbalances, so our first order of business when addressing behavioral issues is always conducting a complete physical exam and diagnostic workup.

There is not a cure-all for behavioral problems, but once we rule out underlying disease as the cause, we often see marked improvement in the behavioral issue through a combination of training, medication, pheromone therapy and nutritional supplements.

If you have any questions about managing or treating a suspected behavioral issue in your pet, call us at 386-426-0075 or make an appointment online.
